28 February – 29 March 2009
10am – 9pm (daily)
Promenade, Level 9
National Library Building

Chinatowns are an inalienable part of the ethnic Chinese identity in Southeast Asia. Far from being merely clusters of buildings and shops with Chinese architectural styles and/or motifs, Chinatown in Southeast Asia has a human facet that tells the stories of their dwellers and visitors. This exhibition, organized by the Chinese Heritage Centre and HuayiNet, attempts to tell these stories through the highly accessible medium of photography and aims to capture the sights of the human side of Chinatown in Southeast Asia in face of the ever-increasing rate of globalization.

Photographed by Mr Zhuang Wubin, partly sponsored by Singapore Totalisator Board and print sponsorship by Hewlett Packard. For more information, contact Chinese Heritage Centre at 6790 6176 or email: chc@ntu.edu.sg.
